Drawing on dried mud with charcoal, I like the idea that this work only exists until the wind blows or the the rain falls just like these elements exposed and moved this plant's root.
I create constructions on site, connecting traditional, natural, textural and everyday materials that are symbolic of the narrative. Currently I am working with on site specific drawings and sculptures incorporating natural on site materials documenting with photography and stop motion film. My work responds to my experience and interaction in local landscape, travels and short residencies throughout Canadian urban/rural/suburban environments. I am exploring my artistic carbon footprint from local to unfamiliar, they are landscapes centred on the impact of the narrative, “identifying landscapes as cultural symbols”.
