O'Neill C.V.I. Mural Projects 2010 to 2018

Native Studies Hall, Mural in progress, Medicine Wheel tribute to Norval Morreseau, working with Woodlands centre to effectively not appropriate culture but reflect Indigenous Culture and beliefs.
Proposal Description and present context:
We have started to create a mural for the wall that wraps around from the elevator and ends adjacent to Room 103 at O’Neill C.V.I. as a symbolic entrance and welcoming point honouring the Aboriginal Native Studies Department, and all the students and teachers.
It has the Medicine Wheel Welcome Circle represented on the DDSB website Aboriginal Education Program duplicating the exact design layout, animals and colours emulating the Woodlands style of Norval Morrisseau inclusive of the Eagle, Bear, Deer and Buffalo with the associated underlying elements water, fire, earth and sky. In the centre of the medicine Wheel is a portrait of Norval Morriseau as an artistic sign of respect for this great artist and his culture.
The Medicine Wheel is beginning to look as if it has been stretched over a circular frame mirroring a hide shape. Student handprints of various shades will surround the outside of the Medicine Wheel representing a connection and unification of all students and people at O’Neill C.V.I..
Paw prints of the four symbolic animals represented in the DDSB medicine Wheel Circle will lead into the wheel reflecting the importance of each animal’s direction connecting the spirits of knowledge and interconnectedness of First Nations, Metis and Inuit People, land and nature.
